13. Check the installation of the O-rings on the existing
standard section and reinsert them into their corresponding
grooves as required. If necessary, draw a small bead of ahdesive
(#10866-122) to hold the O-ring in its groove. Wipe off the
previously applied Alumnashield® coating
(#203233-4) and reapply a thin, approximately 1/64 inch (0.4 mm),
continuous coating of Alumnashield® from the center
of the flange holes to the outer edge of the flange. CAUTION: THE MATING FLANGE SURFACES AND THE INSIDE OF THE CABLE SECTIONS MUST BE CLEAN. Inspect these visually and remove any dirt, adhesive, or other foreign material before beginning the steps to join the outer conductors. 14. Carefully slide the outer conductor until the flanges are about 1 inch (25 mm) apart. Insert all bolts from the hardware kit (#209608) through both flanges, inserting the longer bolt with the cross-drilled shank into the bottom flange hole first to help alignment. 15. Slide the outer conductor until the flanges butt, taking care that the O-rings are not displaced. Install the remaining flange hardware, using a back-and-forth twisting action to install the threadseal washers. 16. Use the torque wrench assembly (#220045) to tighten the bolts to a 38- to 40-ft-lb torque. After the bolts are torqued, coat the exposed threads with Alumashield® (#203233-4). CAUTION: TIGHTEN THE BOLTS GRADUALLY with the ratchet wrench assembly (#221180). Use an alternating pattern to produce uniform contact and avoid warping the flanges. If nut runners are being used, first hand-tighten four bolts about 90° apart. Next, run up the other nuts. Then, tighten all bolts, by hand, using the torque wrench assembly. 17. Remove the protective covering at the ANT end of this segment and attach a strain insulator (#207567) to the inner conductor, flat side outward. Rotate the strain insulator until the inner conductor is extended about 1.25 inches (30 mm) beyond the insulator. |
18. Attach the female connector from the connector from the
connector hardware kit (#220203) to the inner conductor, turning
the connector by hand until snug. 19. Detach the handle from the inner conductor tool (#220335) and mount the two clamping sections around the exposed inner conductor, just beyond the female connector. Thread the inner conductor positioning rods (#221686) to the clamping sections. Insert the rod (#9879-34) into the positioning rods and tighten securely. |
